Our Terms of Service

Welcome to Guidek. These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of the Guidek mobile application ("App"), including all associated features and services. By accessing or using Guidek, you agree to be bound by these Terms.

Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years old to use Guidek. Individuals under the age of 13 are not permitted to register for or access the App.

Account Registration and Use

Email verification is required to register and maintain an account.

Your username is set as your real name, although you may choose to remain anonymous to other users.
Admins must remain identifiable within their assigned societies.
You may request to delete your account and personal data at any time. Deleted accounts will result in removal of associated reactions, reviews, and event participation records. However, any locations you have added will remain within Guidek.

Content and Usage

Guidek provides the following user functionalities:

Join nationality and city-based societies (created by Guidek and managed by designated admins).
Users may join multiple societies if applicable, and receive announcements and event updates from all societies they are part of.
View announcements and events posted by society admins and react to them.
Discover curated halal venues, mosques, and culturally relevant locations.
Submit new location suggestions, which are subject to review and approval by Guidek. Society admins may edit or manage location details if inaccuracies are found, but only within the specific city of the society they administer. Approval for new entries currently remains with Guidek.

Content Restrictions:

Content that is offensive, inappropriate, or harmful is strictly prohibited.
Guidek retains the right to moderate and remove content. Admins may independently manage content and location submissions within their assigned societies, including adding, editing, or removing locations without supervision.
Unauthorized commercial promotions or advertisements are strictly prohibited and will be removed.

Societies

Societies are established by Guidek and assigned to designated owners for ongoing management.

Each city may host only one society per Gulf nationality.
Admins manage membership and content within their assigned societies and do not hold authority over others.
New society requests must be submitted through guidek.app/request-society.
Society owners may designate their societies as private, making only the name and logo/banner publicly visible. Full access requires admin approval.

User Conduct

Users may react to announcements and events, leave reviews, submit places, and report issues.

Respectful communication is required at all times. Harassment, spam, and hate speech are prohibited.
Violations may result in temporary suspensions or permanent bans.

Data Collection and Privacy

Guidek collects the following data:

Travelers: Full name, home country, and current city/country of exploration. Device location coordinates are processed locally to determine proximity to relevant cities and nearby locations. These coordinates are not stored or transmitted.
Students: Full name, home country, and details of study including university, city, and country. Location data is also processed locally to optimize content relevance and functionality.

Profile visibility:

Travelers: Full name, home country, and user type.
Students: Home country, university, city and country of study, and user type.

Third-Party Services

To ensure a secure, efficient, and high-quality user experience, Guidek integrates trusted third-party services. These include:

Supabase – for secure authentication and real-time data operations,
Resend – for transactional email delivery,
Cloudflare – for infrastructure-level performance and security,
Google Maps – for geolocation and place-based services.

These integrations are essential to maintaining the integrity, safety, and performance of the App. By using Guidek, you acknowledge and consent to these service integrations.

Availability and Liability

Guidek is available on iOS and Android platforms. While we strive for uninterrupted access, availability cannot be guaranteed.
Guidek is not liable for any loss or damage resulting from app usage or technical interruptions.

Commercial Activity

Guidek is currently free of charge with no paid features or in-app purchases.
We do accept commission-based collaborations and sponsorships. Inquiries may be directed to social@guidek.app.

Updates to This Terms

We may revise this Term of Service from time to time. All updates will be communicated through the App and via email. Continued use of the App after changes indicates your agreement to the revised policy.
